Monopoly game

A full reimagining of the classic Monopoly board, very element redesigned from scratch with a cohesive visual system. This project pushed my skills in illustration, typography, and physical fabrication, turning a familiar game into a design exercise in consistency and detail.
Zombie Apocopoly was the result of a whole semester spent on one design project. All of the fabrication was also done by me.
Approach
I knew the focus of this project was going to digital illustration and that was done with a Wacom tablet. The rest of the project consisted of the fabrication process which put many skills like book making, 3d modeling, and printing to use.

The final result was a full game with cards, game pieces, tokens, instructions and the board itself. This was all held in a box that is also designed with an organizer for all of the pieces.

Outcome
The finished board game is completely playable even with an extra component I added to the game. I added a component of survival to the game, adding time to the already long Monopoly gameplay. The development of this game is far enough for release and I successfully made my own rendition of a monopoly board game.
The functionality of this project speaks volumes to its success, it took a lot of planning, testing and execution to get perfect.
Reflection
The monopoly board redesign is a project that I return to when I need reminding how important illustration is to graphic design. Illustration is so often thought of as a different art discipline but it can be used as a tool to enhance my graphic design. This project shows me how impactful it is when the graphic designer of a project works with illustration as well and how much it lends itself to creating the overall design voice of the project.
